Three people have been arrested in the shooting death of an 86-year-old Elbert County man, one of whom is the victim’s granddaughter.
Savanna Marie Jennings, 19, is facing murder charges in the death of Otha Perrin, whose body was found near a private property pond on Monday.
Also facing murder charges is William David Peterson, 19, of Athens.
A third suspect, Dakota Scott Street, 18, of Elbert County is charged with concealing the death of another.
Perrin died of multiple gunshot wounds, and also lived at the same residence as Jennings.
Police said Jennings came to the Elbert County jail on Sunday to report that her grandfather was missing. On Monday, another family member came to the sheriff’s office and said that “something isn’t right” about the missing person’s case.
During further questioning, investigators said Jennings eventually admitted she had been deceitful in her answers.
Police also recovered a .22 caliber rifle on the farm property near the pond where Perrin’s body was recovered.
Late Wednesday afternoon, a magistrate court judge denied bond for Savanna Jennings and Williams Peterson, because they are charged with felony murder. The judge set a $25,000 bond for Dakota Street, because he faces the lesser charge of concealing the death of another.
