Kennesaw mom paralyzed after tree limb falls on her

The mom of three was out on a walk, enjoying the snow, when the unthinkable happened.

KENNESAW, Ga. — Police said a woman was paralyzed after getting knocked down by a tree limb.

According to the Kennesaw Police Department, officers went to the Legacy Park subdivision after getting a call of a person down. Family says Jenny Lane was out on a walk with her husband Richard and one of her sons when a tree branch snapped, hitting her in the back of the head.

When officers got there, they found the mom of three lying on the ground in the snow with a head wound. Neighbors told 11Alive Jenny's husband and her son had pulled her from under the limb. But she told officers she was having trouble breathing and couldn't feel her legs.

"She kept saying that, 'My back hurts. I can't feel my legs,' and we were all praying that her legs were just numb," one witness told 11Alive. Meanwhile, all around them, they could hear branches falling from the heavy snow.

Officers called for an ambulance, but because of the secluded path, it wasn't able to get to Jenny's location. By this time, neighbors had gathered with blankets to keep her warm while her husband went the short distance to his home to get his truck to driver her to the hospital.

According to one neighbor close to the family, Lorriane, doctors say Jenny punctured both her lungs and broke several limbs. A Gofundme page set up for Jenny says she will move to a spinal rehabilitation center where doctors will work with her.

Since the accident, neighbors have really been rallying around the family, calling the outpouring of love from the community "amazing."

Lorraine said they were able to fill up a "meal train" through February within two hour. "It's just amazing how it's just touching people," she said.
