A FedEx driver was still in the back of a delivery truck on Monday evening as a thief started to drive away with it.
Now, Bolivia Powell is recovering - and speaking with 11Alive - after making her big escape just three months into her new job.
"I just had to get out," she said. "I just knew I feared for my life and I wanted to get out of the truck so I jumped out."
Bolivia had doubled back to drop off a package knowing how excited people are to get them.
"I just wanted to make sure everybody had their package," she said. "Just trying to be Santa Claus."
But, right a the end of her route, it all went wrong.
"A car pulled up on the side of me and, next thing I know, you know how the trucks, when they're backing back, they make a beeping noise? That's how I knew the truck was moving," Bolivia said.
The only problem? She was supposed to be a driver.
The truck was originally sitting on the street as Bolivia was unloading packages. Cameras on a nearby house caught the truck on surveillance video driving by moments before a man in a ski mask stole it.
"I just knew I needed to get out of the truck," she said. "Get out of the truck. That's all I kept thinking in my head - get out the truck."
And so she jumped. That jump is the reason she's liming around with bandages on her elbow and knee.
"When I was trying to jump out, I ended up on my side and I hit my head," she said. "And then the guy, he kind of ran over the side of my ankle."
Bolivia said it was a good thing she was wearing, steel-toed shoes.
She refused stitches on her elbow but, other than that, she's only got a few scrapes and bruises. As the frantic moments - and thoughts of her own children - continue to rush through her mind, she knows it could have been a lot worse.
"I consider it a blessing, I do," she said. "That way, I get to be home with my kids and I get to see another Christmas."
Before Christmas even comes, she plans to help Santa deliver packages again, determined to be back in her truck by Monday.
